Welcome back to Marketing for Romance Writers’ Book Hooks. Today, I’m sharing a short snippet from one of my current works in progress. Scarlett and the Big Bad is in the editing phase so it won’t be long before the full story is available. Enjoy a teaser, and then check out some of my available titles.
I’ve also started a follow-up in the series: a twisted, fantasy, and paranormal Goldilocks and The Three Bears with kink and BDSM. For titles, I’m considering Blondie and the Three Bears or Don’t Feed The Bears. Be sure to weigh in on which one you like best in the comments section or add your own suggestion.

Blurb:
What if Red Riding Hood was headed for danger, and the big, bad wolf was the only hero who could save her?
All of her life, Scarlett dreamed of improving her dire circumstances by joining the prestigious Order of the Phoenix. When her big day arrives, the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen shows up with a giant wolf and ruins her first meeting with the priestesses, insisting he’s rescuing her! Confused and overwhelmed, Scarlett finds herself simultaneously drawn to and terrified by the man who claims to be her fated mate. Whatever that means.
Orphaned at an early age, Monty Blackwolf takes care of his younger sister, Katina, as best he can, and just when he has nearly gotten her all grown up, Scarlett, rushes in to blow a huge hole in his life. He didn’t ask for a mate, and he hadn’t wanted one, but his werewolf’s heightened sense of smell makes the nearly helpless human tantalizing even from miles away.
The worst part about their sticky situation is her connection to the magical terrorist group responsible for his parents’ and older brother’s murder. Scarlett’s stubborn refusal to believe the truth doesn’t help either.
Monty’s determined to protect Scarlett from her own deeply ingrained indoctrination and The Order’s evil plans for her even if he has to spank her bottom until it’s the same color as her beautiful crimson hair. Compounding his difficulties, he’s afflicted with a unique, third shifter-form he doesn’t fully understand and isn’t able to control. Will Monty be able to save Scarlett or will he prove to be more of a danger to her than anyone else?
Teaser:
Her lips parted on a moan and her knees quaked. “Are you going to spank me again?”
“Do you want me to?”
“Please don’t.” She sniffled.
He chuckled. “Shhh…I know, it’s been a tough day all around, but I’m going to make it better.” All the roughness in his voice had melted away into a smooth fountain of champagne.
All the pain, confusion, and anger she’d been feeling seemed to disappear in the swirl of comfort provided by his salve-covered hands as he peppered kisses along her lower back. Scarlett’s head grew hazy as the area between her legs tingled and pulsed with excitement, but a big part of her was still scared. The hairs on her arms, nearly dry in the damp air, stood on end as she pursed her lips, forcing the noises attempting to spring out of her mouth back down her throat. “Don’t…” She whimpered.
“Don’t?” His voice questioned her resolve, melting away her objections the way a sugar cube disappeared in warm tea.

Interesting last line of the excerpt
I’m melting! “His voice questioned her resolve, melting away her objections the way a sugar cube disappeared in warm tea.”
He seems to have close to absolute power over her. And about the title . . . Not having read the story I can’t give a definitive answer, but I think that Blondie and the Three Bears draws a tighter tie to the Goldilocks tale, if that’s what you want. I feel I’d know what the story’s about.
Thanks, Ed, I think you’re right about the title.
Love the last line.
