It’s time for Book Hooks again. Last week, I shared a snippet from Triple Naughty Christmas, and the week before I brought you a teaser from Horse Mountain Heat (previously titled Bareback Christmas). I have one more Holiday story in my back pocket.
Crystal Coast Love Connection:
She’s surrounded by the sights and sounds of the holiday season, but Jessica’s broken heart has her feeling more like the Grinch than Santa. The first time Captain Chase Culpepper literally runs into her, he sees she’s something special, and after he beds her, he knows she’s the one. He’ll have to pull off some pretty smooth moves to get her to give love another try. Enjoy a teaser below, and then grab your copy or read for free with kindle unlimited.

Teaser:
Just then the waitress set Jessica’s drink down on the table. Her mouth watered over the smell of fresh pineapple juice and rum. She’d forgotten how much she enjoyed the drinks this restaurant served. It had been ages since she was here, and in truth it had been even longer since a man treated her. David hadn’t taken her anywhere that didn’t have a drive-through window in over a year, and even then, most of the time, he expected her to pay. She picked up her beverage and glanced at Chase. “Thanks.”
He lifted his frothy mug of beer and clanked it against her glass. “Cheers!” His lower eyelids contracted, creating tiny crow’s feet as his eyes crinkled and the corners of his mouth curved upward—now that was a genuine smile that couldn’t be faked.
Jessica’s heart pitter patted for a split second, but she slammed it behind a steel door of mistrust. No! No! No! All men switch on the charm at first. It’s when they’ve got you that they start the lying, cheating, and nasty name-calling.

Very, very sexy cover, Sierra!
Thanks, Lisabet! xoxo
This is such a great description of a smile:
“His lower eyelids contracted, creating tiny crow’s feet as his eyes crinkled and the corners of his mouth curved upward—now that was a genuine smile that couldn’t be faked.”
I might just use some of that in one of my books! Does that make me a great writer?
Sounds like she’s been burned badly. Great teaser
Captivating as always!

Thanks, Dee!
It’s hard to get past that first level of distrust once your hearts been stomped on!
I’ve known all too many men who were charming at first and then became monsters. The cover is lovely.
